“Post-Truth Era,” a single released by Colorado-based thrash metal band Havok, starts out with a melodic guitar riff, which takes a turn into an intense thrash song, complete with loud aggressive vocals, and complicated drum patterns. Although it definitely has an old-school thrash sound, the recording and guitar styles lean in a more experimental direction, which makes an interesting and exciting listen. The lyrics are both beautifully written, albeit slightly angry and dystopian in a typical thrash metal manner, and relevant to the state of the world today. The passionate and energetic guitar riffs combined with this scathing commentary on today’s society and how it reacts to new ideas and the spread of false information makes for a song that is just what America needs right now.
