wrapping up fall 2019 semester and happy holidays
Here are a few updates from your student government team:
Wellness week is coming Dec. 2-Dec. 6. This week will be filled with two events a day focused on the seven different pillars of wellness that will provide resources for students.
Free coffee and bagels, anyone? On Monday, Dec. 2, we are partnering with PALs to give coffee and pastries from 9-11 a.m. in the Lynx Center. We will also be providing students with Emotional & Wellness Bingo cards which will showcase self-care techniques they can utilize to destress from finals pressure.
Have you ever been financially stressed? This is a common source of stress, anxiety, and fear for college students. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Lynx Center we are hosting a “Cash It Out” event which is focused on the importance of personal savings. Students will also be provided with a few tips about the stock market and play in some fun games.
Also on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at North Atrium B, students will get to make a vision board. A key part of the creative wellness pillar is getting enjoyment from self expression in work, play, and life activities.
Want to learn more about sustainability? On Wednesday, you get to. Students will be allowed to experiment with urban greenery by planting their own seeds at the Lynx Center from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Get into the giving spirit. Students can come and make holiday cards for people in North Classroom Atrium B from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. The cards made will be sent to UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, LGBTQ Student Resource Center, Juniper Village, Veteran Student Services, and our fantastic Custodial Staff.
On Thursday, students can grab food and learn about MyLynx, Club Sports, UniverCity Key, Culture passes, and more resources we have. This event will be held at the Lynx Center from 12-3 p.m.
Who doesn’t love chicken and waffles? This event is targeted (but not exclusive) to first year students to learn about resources we have on campus for them. We will be providing chicken and waffles for the first 100 people that come to Campus Village between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
This week was planned by the First Year Transfer Committee and College Council Committee. We hope to see students show up to a lot of these events.
We are continuing to push for compost expansion in all CU Denver buildings. Student support is important in any initiative we do, so you can sign our petition with this link: https://ucdenver.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ah3wXUudNBdJU5T
We also have a student, Daniel Casillas, a Biology major at CU Denver involved on the search committee for our new Chancellor. We will be providing updates on that as the process moves forward.
We hope finals go smoothly and you all finish the semester strong. Happy Holidays from your Student Government!
Have a great break,
Jamie
