Bishop Briggs | Jekyll & Hide | Single Review

Island Records
Rating: Thumbs up

Bishop Briggs’ new single “Jekyll & Hide,” from her newly released album Champion, is a masochistic song about chasing after a lover like the eponymous two-in-one duo who is “Sweet and then you’re sour, changes by the hour / Never know which one I’ll taste.” The majority of lyrics are clear and powerful, but some others make little sense but exist seemingly just because they sound good. The backing music is reminiscent of K.Flay’s “High Enough,” with its aggressive, slightly chaotic feel. K.Flay, in fact, helped write “Jekyll & Hide,” and it shows—in a good way.
