Black Marble | Feels | Single Review
Sacred Bones Records
Rating: Thumbs Up
Though based in sunny Los Angeles, an overcast look on modern music and Black Marble’s views on its current state of affairs is brought up in his latest single “Feels.” Much like his previous work, New Order and Soft Cell, inspirations rest heavily against a monotone chorus of nostalgia. A disheartened comparison of how music, especially college radio stations, used to create an in-person community of like-mindedness instead of the online attention-grabbing contest music can be today. The alienated lyrics bounce with the ghost of an 80’s synth pop melody, nevertheless, resulting in “Feels” being a wistful late summer hymn of memory.
