Good luck and farewell CU Denver

It’s with both sadness and anticipation that I share news of my new career adventure with you. As you may have heard, I’m leaving the University to become the President & CEO at Mullen High School in Denver.

The most difficult thing about making this move is saying goodbye to our amazing CU Denver student body. For my money, there are no students anywhere who work harder individually nor collectively to make their commencement dreams come true.

When I arrived at CU Denver just before the beginning of the Fall 2011 semester, there were no Club Sports, our Milo the Lynx mascot hadn’t been born, and the Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center wasn’t even a wild dream yet. Now, in less than eight short years, our students have made each of these things a reality. Students dreamed up each of these big ideas, then worked tirelessly to make them happen. And, with each success, I couldn’t have been prouder.

Those initiatives are examples of the spirit, tenacity, and determination of CU Denver students. You think creatively, you work collaboratively, you pull inspiration from our campus location in the heart of the city of Denver, and you dig your heels in when the situation becomes tough.

Our students, CU Denver Lynx, have changed the face and the soul of this campus forever. You have built a new, united community that didn’t exist previously, and I know that moving forward you will dream up new ways to continue to impact and improve the University.

I’ve loved being able to share in your efforts, your enthusiasm, and your energy as you took on life’s challenges and exciting opportunities. It’s been quite a ride, and I sincerely thank you for allowing me to come along with you.

Our journey together gave me great joy, and I will continue to treasure all the relationships I’ve built along the way. Good luck to each and every one of you as you continue to pursue your educational and career goals. There’s nothing a CU Denver Lynx can’t achieve!

Always a Lynx
