Greetings CU Denver! As always, we have a lot going on over at SGA. Your student representatives are working on numerous projects. The Legislation and Outreach committee is working with the University Key discount program to reach out to businesses to offer discounts to CU Denver students, as well as creating a Student Worker Council to represent student employees.
The Events and Planning committee has many exciting events coming up, including the annual Cultural Diversity Festival on Feb. 27. More events can be found on our Facebook page (@CUDenverSGA).
Finance and Funding is working diligently to approve student organization funding, so be sure to get your requests in soon, student orgs!
First Year Council is actively seeking another member to join their committee; they are planning an involvement fair at Campus Village Apartments.
The Student Advisory Committee to the Auraria Board (SACAB) is making progress on implementing an all-gender restroom in the Tivoli, as well as alleviating the costs of parking. During the month of February, every student that takes five items to their institution’s food pantry will be entered into a drawing to win a free parking day-pass!
Are you curious about where exactly your student fees are going? Don’t worry, the Student Fee Review Committee (SFRC) is meeting with every office that utilizes student fees to ensure that they are being maximized.
College Council is hiring positions (Education and Public Affairs majors, anyone?) and continuously listening to the needs of their respected colleges.
The Executives are working closely with Faculty to implement a grade forgiveness policy, exploring the use of Open Educational Resources, and launching Student Outreach Week (the week of February 26) and an Inclusivity Pledge.
If you’re a student who cares about making CU Denver a better place, being a representative of students, or simply want to get involved in something new, then we encourage you to run in the election! Being a part of SGA has been a truly valuable experience for students. It is a great opportunity to develop lifelong skills. Candidate packets are now available in SGA (Tivoli 301).
