CLINTON DISCUSSES HER NEW BOOK AND RECENT CAMPAIGN
On Sept. 12, Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the hosts of Pod Save America about her new book, What Happened, which discusses her campaign in the 2016 presidential election.
Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy Vietor are the hosts of Pod Save America, and they were all once a part of Barack Obama’s communications team. Lovett was also a part of the Hillary Clinton campaign when she ran for president in 2008.
On the podcast, they usually discuss the week’s political news and then interviews a guest at the end of the show. This episode, however, was focused entirely on the interview.
In this highly anticipated episode, Clinton is arguably the most open she has ever been. She talks with Favreau and Lovett about how she tried hard in 2008 to give her support to Obama after she lost, but unfortunately, did not receive the same support from Senator Bernie Sanders, which did not help her, campaign.
Clinton also discusses how Sen. Sanders made bold claims, like his universal health care and free college plans, which he never supported with explanation of how he would accomplish these things.
Furthermore, Clinton, talks with Lovett and Favreau about how she thinks that former FBI director James Comey is partially at fault for her loss. Clinton also mentions that she didn’t get to talk about her policies as often as she would have liked because she felt obligated to defend the legacy of Obama. Finally, she discusses how she will be focusing on the midterm elections by supporting the Democratic candidates in 2018.
