STUDENT ORG IS AT THE FOREFRONT OF CAMPUS EVENTS
CU Denver Live! is giving students the best bang for their buck with their upcoming events. After previously being one of the key producers of The Block Party, and not to mention the supplier of the iconic giant dinosaur, CU Denver Live! is now looking forward to keeping students involved and active in their community.
The organization hosts events that allow the students to be emerged in the arts and culture. Head of marketing Britt Hopkins said, “We want our events to bring more diversity to campus.” Hopkins continues to say that they are in communication and have high hopes to be teaming up with the Denver Performing Arts Complex to pair students up with the respective staff and give them an insight into the industry. They are also optimistic that soon CU Denver student bands may be able to open for events hosted at the DPAC.
Among other events, CU Denver Live! put on the Art of Cooking, an annual experience where students can come to one or come to all and craft a meal at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts. Among the average 14 events that the organization puts on every year, the favorite seems to be Art of Cooking. “I think there’s something about getting a take-away from the event,” CU Denver Live! Chair Ryan Kalmbach said. “Students get to either take their friends, or go alone and meet new people. No matter what, students will have left meeting a new face.”
This year was the third time I’ve attended the Art of Cooking event because it’s one of my favorites,” CU Denver student Grecia Portillo said. “I love to eat and lack cooking skills, so this is always a good opportunity to meet new people and learn something new!”
After the Art of Cooking, there was also The Art of Costuming, known as “Costume Con” by the organization, where costumers come and show students their intricate cosplays. While seeing some of the best costumes, students also get inspiration for their own Halloween get-up. Along with those events, Live! also hosts Masterpieces and Milkshakes, a G-rated version of canvas and cocktails where you can get your smock and your sip on.
