It has only been about eight months since Trump has gotten elected. It has been a rough eight months it feels more like eight years. Trump supporters say that he has gotten many things done for this country. While this is technically true, none of them have been good things.

To start, Trump has Jeff Sessions announce that the administration is going to be phasing out DACA over the course of six months. DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which allows young undocumented immigrants to be in America to work and study without the fear of deportation. Ending DACA is one of the cruelest things Trump has done because he is punishing children for decisions their parents made. Now there are 800,000 “Dreamers” that don’t know what they are going to do.

There is also a myth that DACA recipients are hurting the US economy, which is not true. If anything, recipients help the economy because many get an education and become highly skilled workers in white-collar jobs.

For those wanting a more detailed analysis on Trump’s DACA decision listen on the episode of Pod Save America that came out Sept. 5th titled “Trump always shoots the hostage.

Also, NPR did an article titled “FACT CHECK: Are DACA Recipients Stealing Jobs Away From Other Americans?” and “Trump Ends DACA, Calls on Congress to Act.”

Furthermore, on July 26, Trump announced his ban on transgender soldiers in the military. He claimed that the reasonings for this is that the medical costs are too tremendous. This is a ridiculous claim because there is such a smaller number transgender people in the military that the cost, compared to the money the US spends on the military in general. In fact, the US military spends more money in Viagra than on the medical bills for transgender people.

In addition, there is the ongoing Russia scandal. This week, there were documents discovered that show that a business associate of Trump, Felix Sater, emailed Trump’s lawyer about getting a business deal with Vladimir Putin. Later said he could get a Trump tower built that will “highlight Mr. Trump’s savvy negotiating skills and be a political boon to his candidacy.” He then goes on to say that, “Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it” and “I will get all of Putin’s team to buy in this, I will manage this process.”

Also, Donald Trump Jr. had a meeting with the Russians in Trump Tower about Hillary Clinton. It is unclear exactly what was said during that meeting other than Trump Jr.’s account of what was said, but it still shows a willingness to collude with a foreign government.

As John Oliver said, “This is not normal.” Even though it is hard not feel numb to everything that happens, people must remember to keep fighting, and go vote in 2018 to get Trump out of the White House, and actually get things done. Everyone has a voice and it is in the form of voting and peaceful protesting.
