Autograf Aims To Make Their Mark On Colorado

Passion, DIY production, and a bunch of shoes where they aren’t supposed to be. This sets the scene for Autograf, a trio who aims to redefine EDM’s irking obsession with wasting the live experience, but still finds time to store all their shoes in the tour bus’ shower. “The whole project in general is about doing what feels creatively genuine,” Jake Carpenter, one-third of the chilly nu-disco electro-dance house outfit says. “[we incessantly strive] do something cool or creative.” It is abundantly clear that they’re coming to Colorado this weekend to do just that.

The brevity of their last stop in the Mile-High City was merely a whiff of what this powerhouse has in store. Fresh off the release of their latest single, Future Sauce, the outfit utilizes clean, glassy and meticulously-positioned dins to drive the foundation for a hypnotic and magnetic track. Winding between swiveling piano arpeggios, certified garage-raw ricocheting  bass grooves, and soul-filling chants, the  contagious track is quickly spreading through EDMs blogosphere. Often quoted for bending the boundaries of genre, the groups had said that, “we like to make a joke of all the genre naming.” Truly, with a key-tar, xylophone, and a djembe in musical rotation — Autograf’s upcoming LP is sure to break any expectation.

Luckily for Colorado, there’ll be two chances to catch this experience. Playing back-to-back shows this weekend in Denver, CO at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom (Oct 21), and Boulder, CO at the Boulder Theatre (Oct 22) give fans prime time to experience this band in their creative zenith. Speaking of smashing expectation, fans can expect a live show that’ll disarm their interpretation of house music. “They might be thinking that it’s chill.” Louis Kha says. “It’s amazing what live instrument, and DIY lights can do to make a show rowdy as fuck.” The group also prides themselves in building their show from scratch. “We met in Chicago a week before the tour left,” Jake explained. “We designed the stage build, welded the pieces together, programmed the lights, and somehow crammed it all into our U-Haul. The show’s have been huge and out of this world. It’s incredible.”

The tour is also co-headlining with fellow nu-disco heavy-weight, Goldroom, who recently released his debut LP,  West of the West this fall. His keen sense of style, serotonin-surging groove, and angelic-vocals forms a staggering synthesis for a night that won’t soon be forgotten.
