Denver’s Best Shopping Boutique

QUEEN CITY GENERAL STORE: NEAT AND CHIC

Denver isn’t short of diverse and individualized boutiques that have carefully curated garments and oddities. The most recent addition to Capitol Hill and Denver’s assemblage of chic boutiques is Queen City General Store, owned and curated by Olivia Meininger.

Perhaps the most enticing characteristic of Queen City is that it puts a distinct modern twist on the antiquated concept of a general store. They have taxidermy hanging on nearly every wall, Mexican-style blankets, and sheep’s skin adorning their vintage couches, adopting a western-chic aesthetic.

This brand new haunt is an abode for wares, lingerie, jewelry, dry goods, cosmetics, and other curiosities, as well as new and vintage clothing. Much like the general stores in the early west, one can find almost everything of necessity concentrated in one place at Queen City, but of course with an air of modernity to it.

The flourishing storefront also hosts events from Valentine’s Day parties to local musicians’ concerts, and much like any western establishment, drinks are provided. Queen City acts as a medium between a modern-day boutique and a saloon in the wild west. It is a gathering ground for Denver locals and artists to not only observe and drink, but to converse. ere are plenty of boutiques in the city of Denver, but they all have their own aesthetic. e most refreshing thing about Queen City is its lack of ostentation and its embrace in the humble nature of the modern essentials that they purvey.
